Those few thousand words right at the end were the hardest ever and i'm still not even to the last, final scene.
Wow, what a month.
I have more plot holes than ever, serious character flaws, inaccurate research.
I have a psychopath or two (no make that at least three), conspiracy theories, fairies (don't call them fairies) in combat trousers forming a resistance movement and a small creature called Skinpuddle.
I have a group of coders who refuse to stop swearing and drinking copious amounts of beer.
I have an old evil returning to the world and i have a brave - but flawed - protagonist who is destined to fail.
i have sore fingers, a tired mind, a pile of ironing that is scaring the Labrador and a very forgiving family.
I have new friends, a quietly dying laptop and a bad habit to hit ctrl+s every 2 sec when i'm typing
I have a big rough first draft and a big fat smile on my face.
really just to apologise - i should be posting more - and my vox will really come into it's own when i get to the editing stage - so please stay with me...but am on a post 35k high tonight and attempting to keep my head down as I plough onto the finish, deep breath...ok
Ok, quick edit here - i've been reliably informed that the character, Iagan (referred to here) shouldn't ride a BMW - instead he should have a MV Agusta - to be completely accurate a MV Agusta F4-1000R.
Who am i to argue, looks just the ticket!
I doubt if it's only me - but i do need a decent soundtrack when I'm writing. I been working on a series of playlists on my ipod that reflect the mood of each scene - then i can really lose myself in a sense of place.
I have noticed that one track is appearing more than others at the moment - so I suppose, sums up the entire project - it's an old one but well worth a listen to get a flavour.
Info: This is a video from dove's campaign for real beauty where you see a girl get a heavy makeup and then "fixed" in photoshop before she's beauty enough to fit the ad.
yeahhaaaaa!
I've just written in a new key character and i lurve him already, ladies & gentlemen please meet - Iagan Bhatair -
( Bhatair - From the Scottish version of WALTER - From a Germanic name meaning "ruler of the army", composed of the elements wald "rule" and heri "army". A famous bearer of this name was Sir Walter Scott, a novelist from Scotland and the author of 'Ivanhoe' and other notable works.
Iagan - Modern form of the Scottish name Aodhagán, From the old Irish name Áed, which meant "fire".)
Not a nice person really.
But integral to the plot so here he is.
Rides a bmw motorbike, has an ipod, speaks with a soft highland burr, kind, friendly eyes, some would say 'boyish' grin, open and immediately trustworthy.
Well, that is, until he plunges the fractured stem of a crystal glass into your eye.
Definitely twisted.
Utterly fascinated. Sounds like a spicy mix.BTW--hitting control-s incessantly is only Great Wisdom. read more
on crikey, i made it..
